Wishing you a happy holiday week.  We are so thankful for all of our amazing students, caring parents and community members.

There will be no school the week of November 20th, and Monday, November 27 is a professional development day.  See you back at school Tuesday the 28th.

KCRA Kids Can Food Drive

From November 14th to November 30th Cavitt will participate in KCRA Kids Can Food Drive.  Donations will be going to local families in need this holiday season.  Collection boxes have been set up in the classrooms for easy drop off. Place your donations in the box that correlates with your team color.  Suggested donations include canned fruits, vegetables, soup, beans, peanut butter, rice, pasta, cereal, and canned meats. No glass items please! Not only will you be helping those in need, you will also be winning spirit points for your team!  The team that collects the most cans wins.  Time is running out, so bring in as many canned items as you can!

If you have seen an incorrect date on a Kids Can flyer, November 14th through 30th is the correct time period!

CJSF is a statewide organization that emphasizes service to our school and the community while recognizing scholastic achievement.  Membership for the 2nd trimester is based on grades earned during the 1st trimester of this school year. Any student that earned a minimum of 2 A’s and 2 B’s in their academic classes is eligible to join CJSF. Students must apply for membership each trimester.

Applications and more information can be picked up in the office.  Applications and a suggested $10 donation are due back to Mrs. Laurin in the office by Friday, December 1st.  Meetings for CJSF members will be held about once a month during Lunch.  If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Laurin, School Counselor and CJSF Advisor.

Wrestling Season Begins

Wrestling practice begins Monday, December 1st from 4-5:00pm.  If you have questions, you can contact coach Randy (916) 532-7600 or>

New Face in the LIbrary

If you’ve seen a new face in the library, it is Mrs. Kudrimoti, Cavitt’s new librarian.  Stop by and say hi!

EUSD Substitute Employees Needed

Want to be fulfilled and add joy to your day? Work for EUSD!

Many years of budget cuts have depleted the pool of educators in teacher preparation programs, and have therefore limited our substitute pool, but many of you love kids, and may be looking for something fun and rewarding to do. Subbing may be your answer! The sub positions will ebb and flow in amount and variety of position throughout the school year, so please go to our website and occasionally look for opportunities that may fit you at, click on Departments - Human Resources - and the picture box labeled Employment Opportunities. Finally, click the link, and it will take you directly to positions for Eureka Union for you to consider! There is no greater joy than working with kids!

Tardy Procedures

Students arriving after the beginning of school are REQUIRED to come to the office to be signed in and get an admittance slip from office staff before proceeding to their classroom. This includes students who are late to or miss Zero period.  As stated in the student handbook, students will be issued one 1/2 hour detention for every three unexcused tardies they accumulate.

Cavitt PTC Academic Achievement Luncheon Committee

Cavitt Parents we need you!  After the first and second trimesters of each school year, Cavitt students who earned straight A’s are invited to a special celebration luncheon.   Students are treated to lunch, dessert, "swag bags" and the chance to win door prizes.  We’re looking for parents to send in desserts for the luncheon and/or to help serve at the luncheon event, we could really use your help!  We just had our first Academic Achievement Luncheon of the year - It’s not too early to find out how you can help with the next event.

Please contact Laura Gleason at if you would like more information on how you can support and be a part of these wonderful student recognition events.
