CJSF Fundraiser

CJSF will be collecting items for teenage cancer patients at Kaiser Roseville beginning next Monday.  We have learned that this is an often forgotten area of need.  We will be collecting items and monetary donations Monday, December 11 - Friday, December 15th during Lunch.  Students who choose to donate an item OR a minimum of $5 will receive a reward on Monday, December 18th.

In addition, all students are invited to the Library during Lunch on Wednesday, December 13th to make cards to include with our donations.  We recognize that this is just one of many opportunities to donate to charitable causes this season, and appreciate your consideration.

Suggested items to donate:

  • Art supplies- paper, markers, pencils, adult coloring books, sketch pads, colored pencils

  • Crafts- glass beading sets for teens, model cars with paints, modeling clay

  • Clothing- fuzzy socks, gloves, hats

  • Technology- movies/video games (PG13), headphones, battery chargers

  • Games/toys- playing cards (regular deck, UNO, etc.), activity books (Sudoku, word searches, mazes, MadLibs, etc.), lego sets, teen board games (Scrabble, Blokus, etc.)

  • Miscellaneous- journals/notebooks, books (young adult), makeup or nail polish, itunes and Google Play cards, Starbucks and Jamba Juice gift cards, mini polaroid cameras

WEB Holiday Gift Exchange

When:  Friday, December 15th during LUNCH

Who:  WEB Leaders and their WEB groups (ALL 7th grade and NEW 8th grade students)

Where:  Big Gym

What:  Students are invited to bring a wrapped, and thoughtful gift valued under $10.  We will have hot chocolate and candy canes as we exchange gifts, listen to music and play games.  Students who choose to not bring a gift are still encouraged to participate in the festivities, the gift exchange is OPTIONAL.

Clash for Cash

Clash for Cash was a lot of fun for students.  The objective is to be the class that has the highest point total at the end of the competition.  All money raised will be given to the Granite Bay Kiwanis Club who will purchase gifts for children for needy families in our community.  Last year over $1,100 was donated!  Stay tuned for this year’s results!

Find your LOST & FOUND ITEMS OUTSIDE THE OFFICE.  Please ask your student to check these items, as ALL WILL BE DONATED THE WEEK OF DECEMBER 18.

Naviance is a comprehensive college and career readiness computer program that helps schools align student strengths and interests to postsecondary goals, improving student outcomes and connecting learning to life.

At Cavitt, the program is introduced and facilitated by our School Counselor, Shannon Laurin.  In 7th grade, students create their Naviance accounts and take a Strengths Explorer assessment.  The Strengths Explorer surveys student interests and then suggests careers based on their specific personality profile.  The objective is to begin the process of connecting their current education to college and career, and to begin to formulate plans and goals. All 7th grade students participated in the first Naviance lesson in their Core class during the month of November.  Students have created their accounts and can now access the Naviance program.  Please take a moment to ask your student about Naviance and what results they received when they completed their Strengths Explorer survey.  You might ask them to sign in and share their results, and demonstrate how they can search for additional information on both colleges and careers

8th grade students will participate in a Naviance lesson in the Spring.

Please contact Shannon Laurin - with questions.

Yearbook advertisements

Parents of eighth graders: You have an opportunity to run an ad in the 2017-18 Cavitt yearbook to celebrate your student's final year at Cavitt and in the Eureka Union School District.  Advertisements cost $100 for a half-page, $40 for a quarter-page, and $25 for an eighth-page ad, and can be created online by creating an account through the yearbook publisher at the following web address:  Ask your eighth grader to see last year's yearbooks for ideas and inspiration.  Advertisements can be created through mid-February.
