Daily Class Procedures

Daily Class Procedures

Our classroom is an active one. Each day we tackle a variety of challenges designed to involve students actively in the process of thinking and learning. They integrate Science and Engineering Practices including: math and computational thinking (data analysis/ graph reading); observations and inferences; predicting and hypothesizing as well as analyzing, reflecting, reviewing, evaluating and communicating. Students have the opportunity for whole class and small group instruction, in addition to guided and independent practice. Students should expect to have homework Monday-Thursday in their Academic class, while STEM Electives will have minimal work to be completed outside of class time.

Students are expected to make up missing work due to absences.

Thank you for your submission.

As your child's teacher, I am committed to establishing partnerships with students and families to ensure student success.  As a part of that commitment, I encourage you to attend the many opportunities to learn about our class and your child's progress. Some of the many opportunities are as follows:

Back to School Night
Fall Parent Teacher Conferences
Winter Parent Teacher Conferences
Open House

Our staff is committed to providing a variety of instructional supports based upon the individual needs of each student. We recognize that students learn at different rates and may need additional support at different points in the curriculum. Our school-wide supports are as follows:

Study Hall
Math Lab
Academic Support

As you continue to support your child’s immediate progress in each of his/her classes, we recommend that you check each teacher’s website.  Each teacher updates individual class websites to provide an overview of current work and assignments.  This is a great way to empower yourself as a parent when checking your student's planner and/or engaging in conversations with your child about his/her homework assignments for the day.

In order to effectively monitor your child's improvement and academic progress, we recommend that you check your student’s grades on a weekly basis.  You can access your child’s grades by logging on to Power School: https://powerschool.eureka-usd.k12.ca.us/public/. You can also sign-up for weekly emails through Power School that will notify you of your child’s current academic progress and grades. Please contact the school if you are having difficulties creating or accessing your account.

As a staff, we strongly believe that a team approach can support academic success of your child. When regular and consistent routines are put into place at home, students perform better.

I believe a strong partnership between school and home is integral to your student’s success. I look forward to guiding your student on a path of exploration and discovery this year. Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.  I look forward to partnering with you in your child's education.

Warm regards,
Christina Bickley
