Out-of-class behavior expectations

  • Follow all school rules at all times.
  • Do not go into any classrooms or talk to any students not in photography class unless you are specifically assigned to do so.  Stay on campus at all times.
  • Keep your voices quiet to prevent any disturbance of any class.
  • Members of the same group can serve as photo subjects for their other group members, but do not mix groups for photos.  (You may take photos of people at a distance.)
  • All group members should carry their photo notebooks to record settings for all photos taken.
  • Return to class a minimum of 10 minutes before the end of the period to download photos, put cameras away, and otherwise clean up.
 
Camera use rules

Camera use rules

  • Always use the camera strap, either around your neck or arm to prevent drop damage
  • Never swing the camera around by the strap
  • Be careful when handing a camera to another student so that it does not get dropped
  • Never engage in inappropriate physical behavior while holding a camera or with a person holding a camera
  • Students not in this class are not allowed to use the cameras.  They do not have the same training or level of respect for the equipment that you will have
  • Do not leave cameras or accessories unattended

Grading

Class grades will be weighted in the following manner:
  • Photo assignments 60%
  • Quizzes 10%
  • Event photography 10%
  • Class participation 10%
  • Final project 10%

Welcome to photography

This trimester-long class is intended as an introduction to digital photography.  Students need to bring a notebook to class each day (for notes and for recording information about their photos).  Digital cameras will be available for use during the class period.
