Environmental Engineering
The class will focus on solving the following world problems:
  • Environmental Sustainability 
  • Safe Water 
  • Food Security
  • Renewable Fuels
  • Genetic Engineering
This course is a modified high school PLTW Environmental Sustainability Program. Students will be required to keep an Engineering Design Notebook to track and manage their work.
VEX Automation and Robotics
  • Utilizing Robot C Programming Language for Robotics.
  • Students learn about mechanical system, energy transfer, machine automation and computer control systems.
Design and Modeling Overview
  • 3D Modeling Software- SketchUp Pro with 3D Printing. 
  • Isometric Sketching and Dimensioning Techniques.

SciTech/PLTW Grading Policy
 
Grades will be based on a point system. Students receive points from the following categories:
a. Engineering Design Notebook Checks
b. Classwork/Projects/Participation
 
There are three STEM electives this year: Design and Modeling, VEX Automation and Robotics, and Environmental Engineering. Each course is one trimester long. Each elective will utilize an Engineering Design Notebook and will explore the design process.
