A little about me as an educator.

This is my 13th year as a teacher, the same age as my students! I have taught grades 2-12, in a variety of subjects and settings. My absolute favorite age is Junior High, so that is where I am staying. Why Junior High? Because they are the best. The kids are inquisitive, respectful, fun and beginning to figure out who they are going to be in the world. I understand that Junior High is so much more than the academics they learn, it is a time of self discovery, emotional, social and physical change. I firmly believe that my role as an educator is to set high standards and expectations and to provide the tools, grace and encouragement for students to reach them. I know that in order to learn, you have to get your hands dirty, and I am not afraid of the mess.

A little about me.

I grew up in Southern California and married my best friend and childhood neighbor. We moved to Meadow Vista 20 years ago, where we have raised our 3 children, a variety of animals and learned the joys of working outside. I had the extreme privilege of teaching all three of my children during their Junior High years, which gave me new insights and understanding as a teacher and a parent. My son will soon be a Freshman at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, majoring in Mechanical Engineering and my two daughters are attending Del Oro High School as a Junior and a Freshman. As a family we camp, boat, hike, play boardgames, cook and watch movies together.
