We will study American history from the time of colonial settlement to the 20th century, and we will examine issues that remain relevant today to put them in their historical and contemporary contexts. We will explore history through many sources, including primary and secondary sources, literature, art, and music.
You will have the opportunity to complete a variety of assignments, including projects, simulations, and discussions. Homework will be assigned, and tests will be given.
Through the study of American history, you will develop your skills with reading and writing, class discussions, computers, critical thinking, and working cooperatively. Other social studies concepts – including geography, politics, and economics – will be addressed throughout the semester.
