(Willma E.) Cavitt Junior High is located in Granite Bay, California. Cavitt School enjoys a reputation as having a strong academic and enrichment program with a capable, caring staff and administration. Cavitt School's vision encourages staff, community, and students to work together developing student responsibility, integrity, and an enthusiasm for learning. Cavitt has an enrollment of approximately 370 seventh and eighth grade students.

Cavitt provides students with the latest in technology due to the support of parents, ESF, the Intel partnership and site monies.
 
Each student is given an EUSD Chromebook for use during the school day, and to take home, as well.
 
At Cavitt, we have interactive whiteboards and voice enhancement systems in every room. Teachers utilize Google Docs to further support student achievement and opportunities for teacher/student feedback in the virtual setting. Cavitt has two gyms. The larger gym contains a full length basketball court and a performing arts stage. The campus has all the classrooms and facilities needed to give students the optimum learning experience.

Cavitt Junior High School has a large, diverse schedule to offer its students. Along with the core departments of science, math, history, english, and physical education, Cavitt has many enrichment classes. Cavitt School offers STEAM courses like Design/Modeling & Robitics, Art, Band, Jazz Band, Ceramics, Computers, Coding, Digital Publications, Positive Psychology, Music Appreciation, World Languages, Life Skills, Spanish 1 & 2, CTV: Media and Woodshop.  Courses are modified or revamped to meet the ever-changing needs of students based on instructor input.

Principal Jennifer Platt and Assistant Principal Mike Zatzke lead a devoted staff of approximately 15 teachers and 10 classified employees. Everyone is dedicated to academic excellence and are responsive to the needs of each individual learner. Parents play a very important role with participation and involvement in their individual student's education as well as in leadership roles in School Site Council and PTC and volunteering in graduation, dances, athletic events, and during special events.

Focus on Readying Students for College and Careers

(Willma) Cavitt Junior High School is a Gold Ribbon school focused on STEM in an environment focused
on readying students for their College & Careers. As a comprehensive junior high, we also provide
an outstanding music program that includes a symphonic band and jazz band.
 
We provide a strong academic program with a caring, experienced and innovative staff and administration. Cavitt is excited about our academic growth and our support of all learners - both academically and emotionally. When the last API score was assigned by California, we were the 2nd highest achieving middle school in Placer County with a score of 932. In every class on campus, staff are focused on creating learning opportunities that utilize skills that are imperative for students to have in the 21st Century. Teachers focus on implementing the California Common Core State Standards within units of study that take into consideration relevant and challenging content. We implement Challenge 21 Projects as part of the Vision of the Eureka Union School District which supports the rigorous expectations the Cavitt Staff has for students. 
 
In addition to our rigorous core curriculum and excellent enrichment courses, we are pleased to offer courses which earned us the Gold Medal Model School distinction.  Seventh grade and eighth grade Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (S.T.E.M.) electives. The 7th grade STEM class is focused on Forensics, Comparative Anatomy, includes a Challenge 21 Multimedia Body Systems project and a PLTW Biomedical unit. The 8th grade STEM class includes Project Lead the Way curriculum, including VEX robotics and a module on Design and Modeling, and Environmental Sustainability/Engineering.
